Chang, David

Mr. Chang retired from his post at Philips in 2008 and now he is an independent management consulting professional. Mr. Chang is the Advisor to Nanjing municipal government and Rotterdam City.

Mr. David Chang was appointed as the CEO of the Dutch electronics giant Philips in China on Jan. 1st 2002.

Mr. Chang, born in Taiwan is a graduate of Electronic Engineering from the National Chiao-Tung University in Taiwan. He has been working with Philips for 27 years in Sales Management, business management and General Management.

Before joining Philips, Mr. Chang has worked with Zenith in development and manufacturing areas. He joined Philips in 1979.While working with Philips, he spent quite some time in the area of displays, such as CRT’s for both TV and computer monitor applications, TFT LCD’s etc.

He is one of veterans in leading Philips’ Computer Monitor Business Unit establishing Philips today’s strong brand and OEM positions. During his time as the General Manager for Business Group Display components in AP region, he has managed several phases of the factories and business transfers for Taiwan to China. Later on, when appointed as the President of Philips Components Division in AP, he has also triggered the thought of industry consolidation in display field. That has resulted in two major JVs between Philips and LG Electronics in both TFT LCD and CRT fields. He was then nominated as the Chairman for LG. Philips LCD and Supervisory Board Member for LG. In addition to his previous role as the Chairman for Philips China Management Team, Mr. Chang was also sitting in the board of various JVs in China. He is still very instrumental in nourishing the relationship with Chinese partners and aligning business goals. He is also a board member of EUCCC (European Union Chamber of Commerce in China) Shanghai Chapter, Advisory Board member of CEIBS (China Europe International Business School), Vice Chairman of CAEFI (China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment) and ECFIC (Executive Committee of Foreign Investment Company in China).

Mr. Chang is the Advisor to Nanjing municipal government and Rotterdam City.
