Francisco Veloso has served as Dean of INSEAD since September 2023, leading the school across its four campuses in Fontainebleau, Singapore, Abu Dhabi and San Francisco. Born in Lisbon in 1969, he holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Lisbon and a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2001). He built his academic career at Carnegie Mellon University, where he was appointed full professor in 2011 and still holds an adjunct appointment. His scholarship addresses technology, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Before joining INSEAD he was Dean of Imperial College Business School in London and, earlier, Dean of Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics. At Imperial he led a period of substantial growth and strengthened the school’s research standing, alongside major initiatives in sustainability, digital transformation, entrepreneurship and health. He also serves as a non-executive director of Arica Holding B.V. and Movendo Capital B.V.
